As part of its mission, the International Tuba Euphonium Association recognizes excellence in various fields and overall achievement in the profession in the form of awards. These awards recognize the very best artists, composers, and researchers who have produced work of the highest distinction and are indeed given to those whose work illustrates the highest level of artistry and scholarship, regardless of popularity or other factors. ITEA’s longest standard such honor is its Lifetime Achievement Award, established in 1991 as a way to honor those individuals who have made exceptional achievements in and/or service to the euphonium and tuba profession and the advancement of our instruments in the music world. Every two years, the Executive Committee and Board of Directors select awardees from among five categories: performance, pedagogy, industry, composition, and scholarship.
