In our 51st year, the International Tuba Euphonium Association (ITEA) announces the International Tuba Euphonium Conference will be held in Spain in 2025 hosted by the Spanish Tuba and Euphonium Association (AETYB).
The ITEA Executive Committee says, “It is with great pleasure that ITEA will be partnering with the Asociación Española de Tubas y Bombardinos (AETYB) to host the next ITEC in Spain during summer 2025! This amazing event will bring together participants from all around the globe to celebrate the tuba and euphonium coupled with the warm hospitality and camaraderie of Spain! Make plans to be part of this EPIC event and look for more details in the coming months! ¡Viva el bombardino, viva la tuba, y viva España!”
The first International Tuba Symposium-Workshop was hosted by Harvey Phillips, tuba visionary and past president of the original Tubists Universal Brotherhood Association (T.U.B.A.), and took place at Indiana University School of Music in May of 1973. Changing its name to International Tuba Euphonium Association in the year 2000, ITEA continues to hold biennial large-scale conferences that attract tuba and euphonium players from all over the world. These conferences highlight goals of re-defining the roles of the tuba and euphonium, improving methods, teaching materials, and instrument design, exploring new directions in techniques and performance, generating new compositions, and expanding performance opportunities.
AETYB President Pablo M. Fernández says, “This is a historical moment for the Spanish Tuba and Euphonium community and a recognition for all of us who have been working for AETYB since its creation. Hosting ITEC 2025 is a dream come true. Thank you very much to ITEA for trusting us, I don’t have any doubt that it will be a great and unforgettable event. Tuba and Euphonium players from all over the world, we are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Spain!”

The organization comprises performers, educators, students, and amateurs of all backgrounds. As a non-profit organization, it is supported by membership dues and donations. About the Spanish Tuba and Euphonium Association (AETYB)
In the summer of 2012, during the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference held in Linz, Austria, a group of Spanish musicians who were there, seeing the strength that the Tuba and Euphonium have in the Spanish musical scene, decided to create a national association, in order to promote the practice of these instruments in Spain. On November 22, Saint Cecilia’s Day, the Spanish Association of Tubas and Euphoniums (AETYB) was born, with the purpose of creating different meeting spaces between musicians who play these instruments. AETYB aims to be an open association where we can share experiences, knowledge, activities, hopes, etc. and in which all tuba and euphonium players have a place.
