Cody J. Forcier joined the Music Faculty at California State University, Fresno as Lecturer of Tuba in the Fall of 2021. He teaches Applied Tuba Lessons, Tuba Studio Masterclass, Tuba Euphonium Ensemble, and is a member of the Faculty Brass Quintet. He was also appointed in the Fall of 2021 as the Lecturer of Tuba & Trombone at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) in Reno, Nevada, and teaches those lessons online. In the Fall of 2022, he was additionally hired as the Lecturer of Tuba, Euphonium, & Bass Trombone at Fresno City College (FCC), where he also teaches Music Theory Fundamentals. In the Fall of 2022 he was also hired as a Low Brass Instructor in the Conservatory Programs at Clovis East High School & Rayburn Intermediate School, and at the new Matilda Torres High School in Madera, CA. Cody taught High School Band, Middle School Band, Elementary Band, and General Music for a total of 13 years in the Reno, NV area. He has also taught Low Brass Lessons at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon, and at Lake Tahoe Music Camp, Oregon Summer Music Camp, and Hayward La Honda Music Camp. In graduate school, Cody was a University of Oregon Athletic Bands Graduate Teaching Fellow, and won the Harvey Phillips Northwest Big Brass Bash Graduate Tuba Solo Contest in 2005. He earned a Master of Music Degree in Tuba Performance from the University of Oregon, where he studied with Michael Grose. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Nevada, Reno where he studied with Dr. A.G. “Mack” McGrannahan III. He has pursued additional studies with Rex Martin at Northwestern, Sam Pilafian, and has attended the Conn-Selmer Institute in Elkhart, Indiana. Cody has performed on tuba, euphonium, and bass trombone in groups such as the Reno Philharmonic, Reno Jazz Orchestra, Nevada Opera, Reno Wind Symphony, Reno Municipal Band, Western Nevada Musical Theater, Toccata Tahoe Orchestra Chorus, Sucka Punch, Eugene Symphony, Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific in British Columbia, Las Vegas Summer Music Festival, GPG Music, CASMEC, Wind Symphony of Clovis, Sequoia Symphony, Dr. Larry Sutherland Wind Fest Orchestra, FCC Orchestra, Tuba Christmas, FCC Brash Bash, Joe Leningan Dance Band, SoCal Trombone Day, ITF, ITEC, and the Fresno Philharmonic. Recent recordings include GPG Music’s 2019 Marching Band Catalog, Scott Sutherland’s “Tuba Bells Are Ringing!” 2020 on YouTube, and the Reno Jazz Orchestra’s Earth Wind and Fire tribute album Spirit, in 2021. In the Summer of 2023, he toured Europe playing euphonium in the Fresno State Alumni Band at the (WASBE) World Association of Symphonic Bands & Ensembles conference in Prague, Czech Republic, and Munich, Germany. Cody is a member of FMCMEA, International Tuba Euphonium Association, International Trombone Association, and is an active adjudicator, clinician, and conductor. He is an alumni of Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity.
