A Message to the Euphonium membership (and the Membership At-Large) of T.U.B.A.
by Earle Louder, Euphonium Coordinator
It is my pleasure to address the euphonium members as your representative on the Executive Committee of our organization. We are at an exciting time in the history of our organization. As a charter member of T.U.B.A., 1 have been actively involved in the growth and progress of our organization from 1973 to the present. 1 have always wished that the name of our instrument were visible in the name of our organization. The name. Tubists Universal Brotherhood Association, has served us well over almost 27 years because of its unique acronym. Over these years the euphonium has grown to be a very vital and integral part of T.U.B.A. In an attempt to better reflect the actual mission and make-up of our organization, including the role of the euphonium, your Executive Committee is unanimously recommending that we adopt the name “International Tuba Euphonium Association” (I.T.E.A.) as our official name. As your Euphonium Coordinator, I am encouraging you, the euphonium membership as well as the membership at-large, to consider voting “Yes” to the Constitutional change on the ballot which will be included with the Fall, 2000 issue of the Journal. Whatever your individual feelings, I encourage us “All” to vote.
Please feel free to contact me, as your Euphonium Coordinator, in any matter concerning the euphonium for which you have a question or opinion. I do not claim to have all the answers, however, if we pool our resources, I know we can find solutions and answers to our questions.
Please join me in my enthusiasm in the ongoing growth and progress of our instrument, the euphonium, through our unique professional organization during the new millennium.
Please remember to “Vote”!
