Eligibility

Contestants for the Young Artist Level solo competitions must not have reached their 19th birthday as of May 23, 2024. All NERTEC competitions are open to contestants of every race, gender and nationality. Each contestant must be a member of ITEA at the time of the live rounds of the competition. Final Round Competitors must be present at NERTEC 2024 held May 24-25, 2024, at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA. *Final Live Round Competitions will begin and end on Friday, May 24, 2024. Those selected as Finalists for the solo competitions must be prepared for rehearsals with pianists beginning the morning of Friday, May 24, 2024. Please be sure to check the page of each competition and the conference schedule for specific dates. Competitors must use the assigned NERTEC pianists, no guest pianists will be allowed. Finalists must pay an additional $50 for the pianist. *Winners of any other competitions (ITEC, other regionals, Falcone, USABTEW, etc.) are eligible to participate. Entrants/competitors must never have held a full-time professional position as a performer or teacher.
