New Hire: Samantha Lake, Calliope Brass and Kutztown University

In September 2022, Samantha Lake joined brass quintet Calliope Brass on tuba and also became an Instructor at Kutztown University, where she teaches tuba and euphonium lessons, as well as brass techniques. Originally from Connecticut, Samantha is a New York City-based freelance musician who started playing the tuba in the sixth grade and never looked back. She loves to perform chamber music because it is inherently collaborative and greater than the sum of its parts. Samantha has commissioned three works for tuba with multiphonics for high voice to help fill a gap in the repertoire and has presented on multiphonics at the International Women’s Brass Conference and the International Tuba Euphonium Conference.
