Frederick Daniel Geib immigrated to the United States from Germany as a teenager and embarked on a career as one of America's first professional orchestral tubists, performing in both the Philadelphia Orchestra and later the New Yor Philharmonic. As a teacher at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City for many years, Mr. Geib composed some of the earliest repertoire for our instrument, which included both solos and methods.
